NOTAPE™ to Debut Tape-Free, Stitch-Free Zipper Technology at European Outdoor Week 2026

By NOTAPE

05, 2026

NOTAPE™, a zipper technology brand, will debut its tape-free, stitch-free zipper technology at European Outdoor Week 2026 (EOW 2026), held from May 17 to 19, 2026, in Riva del Garda, Italy. According to the company, the technology is designed to simplify zipper construction, reduce reliance on conventional tape and stitching, and support lighter, cleaner and more sustainable outdoor apparel manufacturing.

For more than 130 years, zipper construction has largely relied on a tape-and-teeth architecture, even as materials, finishes and production processes have evolved. NOTAPE™ describes its approach as a shift away from conventional tape and stitching, integrating zipper functionality more directly into the garment.

Breaking a Century‑Old Convention: From Addition to Subtraction

Three Core Values for Outdoor Apparel

Built on three decades of R&D and eight years of intensive testing, NOTAPE™ has developed a tape-free, stitch-free zipper structure that attaches zipper teeth directly to fabric. According to company-provided information, the brand has received international design recognition, including Red Dot “Best of the Best” and ISPO “Best Product” awards.

1. Design Aesthetics: Seamless Integration

Conventional zippers typically use a “teeth plus tape” structure, creating a layered build-up of tape, stitching and fabric that can add thickness and stiffness to lightweight garments. NOTAPE™ uses a one-piece integrated construction in which zipper teeth are attached directly to the fabric.

The company says this structure allows the zipper to function as a natural extension of the fabric, helping reduce bulges and wrinkles in windbreakers, sun-protection jackets and ski jackets, while supporting the minimalist, lightweight design direction of modern outdoor apparel.

2. Functional Breakthrough: Waterproof, Lightweight and Durable

Conventional waterproof zippers often rely on films or coatings applied to zipper tape. However, tape absorbency, needle holes and coating wear can limit long-term reliability. NOTAPE™ says its Structural Engineered Anti-Leak Technology (SEAL) removes absorbent tape and needle holes. By attaching the teeth directly to the fabric with precision, SEAL is designed to create a physical barrier and deliver water repellent performance without film, which the company says helps maintain performance through washing and abrasion.

The company says the tape-free structure reduces weight by more than 30%, while the self-supporting teeth design combines a thin profile with mechanical strength.

3. Sustainable Innovation: 26.6% Carbon Footprint Reduction per Zipper

Conventional zipper tape requires spinning, weaving, dyeing and setting, with each step consuming energy and water and generating wastewater, emissions and solid waste. Dyeing can be a major source of pollution, while tape also adds complexity to garment recycling.

NOTAPE™ says its “subtraction innovation” eliminates zipper tape at source and delivers measurable environmental benefits, supported by TÜV-certified data provided by the company. The tape-free, stitch-free process is said to reduce resource consumption by up to 95% by eliminating energy-intensive steps such as tape weaving, dyeing, sewing and transportation. The company says the carbon footprint reduction is fully traceable. Backed by eight years of R&D, NOTAPE™ aims to show how tape-free structures can reshape design, manufacturing efficiency and supply chain collaboration. By turning the zipper into an integrated garment function, NOTAPE™ opens new possibilities for lighter, more efficient and more sustainable outdoor apparel.

NOTAPE™’s Global Debut at EOW 2026

Europe is a key market for outdoor innovation, and EOW brings together more than 350 brands, designers, buyers and media representatives. On site, NOTAPE™ will share insights from eight years of R&D and discuss how tape-free structures could influence design, manufacturing efficiency and supply-chain collaboration.

By moving from a “sewn-on part” to a “grown-in function”, NOTAPE™ is positioning its technology as a new option for outdoor apparel design and manufacturing. Visit NOTAPE™ at EOW 2026, Outdoor Trade Show, May 17 to 19, 2026, in Riva del Garda, Italy.
