For more than a century, the equation “Zipper = Tape + Teeth” has stood as an unchallenged axiom in apparel. Since the zipper’s invention over 130 years ago, this formula has underpinned modern garment manufacturing.
But what if the fabric tape simply disappeared?
Global zipper technology brand NOTAPE™ announces its China debut at InterTextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics (Spring Edition) — unveiling a breakthrough: the tape-free, seamless zipper.
Widely regarded as a reinvention of the zipper itself, this debut marks not only NOTAPE™’s first appearance in China, but a meaningful step forward in advancing garment craftsmanship and sustainability across the apparel supply chain.

Challenging a Century-Old Convention
Over the past hundred years, zipper innovation has largely remained surface-level — new materials, new colors. But for top designers, the traditional fabric tape has long been an invisible constraint: rigidity, unwanted bulk, and inconsistency with fabric thickness often compromise the pursuit of precise tailoring, while creating frustrations for wearers.
NOTAPE™ approached the challenge from a different angle: innovation through subtraction.
Built on over three decades of zipper expertise, the team spent eight years refining the technology — thousands of iterations, one structural breakthrough: a zipper with no tape, no seam.
The result has earned international recognition, including the Red Dot Award: Best of the Best and the ISPO Award for Best Product.
Removing More Than Just the Tape
For high-end fashion, NOTAPE™ is more than a component — it’s a quiet advantage. Its emergence introduces a new design philosophy.
First, minimalism. By integrating teeth directly with the fabric, the zipper dissolves into the garment. It is no longer attached; it becomes part of the material itself.
Second, comfort. The integrated structure allows fabric to maintain its natural drape and softness, enabling freedom of movement and a more body-conscious fit.
And third, sustainability — made measurable.
Removing the tape eliminates both material and process. The impact is traceable, the benefit quantifiable. TÜV-certified testing shows up to 95% reduction in resource consumption during production, proving that structural design can be a meaningful driver of environmental responsibility.

China Debut: Engaging the Industry at Its Core
China is not only a global hub for apparel manufacturing — it is where design innovation takes shape. For NOTAPE™, debuting here means engaging the industry at its core.
At InterTextile, NOTAPE™ will present its tape-free, seamless zipper through full structural demonstrations and interactive experiences, inviting visitors to explore the innovation firsthand.
In addition, a Media Open Day will bring together fashion journalists, designer representatives, senior buyers, and exhibition KOLs for in-depth conversations — on the brand story, the logic behind the structural breakthrough, and what a tape-free future could mean for design and supply chains alike.
More than a product launch, NOTAPE™’s China debut is an invitation to rethink what a zipper can be.
More highlights to be revealed at the exhibition.
