The “Green Ledger” of NOTAPE™ Zippers: Sustainability Beyond Tape-Free Design

First, there is the structure itself. Removing the tape means eliminating an entire chain of high-impact processes, including weaving, dyeing, and finishing. According to TÜV-certified data, each NOTAPE™ zipper reduces carbon emissions by 19.4% to 26.6%, while resource consumption can be reduced by as much as 95%.

Beyond that, we also use recyclable resin materials and can offer post-consumer recycled versions. Production efficiency is higher, which means lower energy use and less labor time. The product is also repairable: if a single tooth is damaged, it can be replaced locally without changing the entire zipper. And at end of life, recycling becomes easier because, without the tape, the material composition is more uniform and therefore simpler to process.

At the same time, we are working with material suppliers to develop bio-based and biodegradable materials as part of our long-term preparation for the future. For us, sustainability is not a single action. It is a continuous process that runs through design, production, use, and recycling.
